Fay Update: Augusta ‘Out Of Swath’

WNRR Augusta – Most of the CSRA will miss the severe affects of tripocal storm Fay, accoring to emergency leaders. The Columbia County Emergency Management Agency released this information Wednesday:

Tropical Storm Fay’s projected path continues to edge away from us and our area is now out of the swath.  There is no reason to believe at this time that any local activities will be affected by this system.

That doesn’t mean that TS Fay’s path won’t change again, but as of this morning, it does look like our local focus will now shift from dealing with local problems to standing by for any assistance needed by our south Georgia counties.

The Columbia County Mobile Operations Center (MOC) is already on stand-by with GEMA and our shelters will be available in case there are any evacuations from the affected areas.  We will have a statewide conference call during the late morning hours and we will continue to closely monitor this system for any changes and I will keep you posted.
