Morning Show – Renee: “Political Machine”

February 24, 2009

The Machine Parts” 2/23/2009 8 mins

Written by: Renee deMedicis / “Powers to the People” 1230am

North Augusta, SC

You’ve probably heard of the term the Chicago Political Machine and how the Obama “Presidential Machine” has “morphed” from it by now. Like almost all of us you may be wondering exactly what it all means. So I thought I would take “The Machine” apart, piece by piece, so that we could better understand what part does what and how it actually works.

Well for starters let’s imagine that this Machine is like a gas operated leaf blower, without omitting the end effect of blowing or spreading.

Now you must have tools to take it apart so we’ll start with a screw driver. The screw driver would be the truth finder, the good reporter, the one wanting to find out how the Machine is really put together. So let’s start unscrewing this Machine.

First we look at the big screws naturally, that would be the outside ones holding this thing together. Let’s call these screws what they are, the liberal Senators and Congressmen.

Then you have the bolts, which are the deal making special interest groups and lobbyist securing these liberal senators and congressional screws together; next vote.

And now we get to the fuel line, you guessed it, the money running the power. The more money put in by the lobbyist and special interest filling the fuel line, the more powerful this Machine becomes and the harder it blows.

Now that I’ve opened up the machine and gotten through all the dirty grime the easier it is to see how “gunked” up and broken this big blower’s engine is. The filth has built up over the years and this is going to take a lot of cleaning just to get it started again.

The engine or “heart” of the machine of course is President Barack Obama. Charismatic and cool on the outside but definitely flawed and broken on the inside.

After years of wallowing in the filth and being fed the leftist socialism dogma day after day as a mere “community organizer” (or trash collector) on the dirty streets of Chicago, he got instantly bumped up the political latter after a brilliant speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention. After all, he was still young and attractive and didn’t have much of a record that could be easily traced by the liberal media that would be adverse to look hard in the first place.

The Chicago Machine and Unions desperately wanted “one of their own” at the heart of the really Big Blower clearing the lawn at The White House. But as we start scrubbing away the grim near the engine of the Big Blower we are able to start taking it apart and the problems are very easy to see! One of the major malfunctions is the clogged external shaft.

The external shaft that does the blowing has three major components; the air inductor which sucks the air in is Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi but she isn’t working properly. This inductor is supposed to make sure that a bipartisan filter is used to clean the air (or legislation) of any “one sided” exhaust that would cause the blower to only blow to the left resulting in half assed operation and leaving the leaves (or the people) on the right ignored and the White House Lawn in need of a good cleaning.

Then there’s the blower’s shaft Senate Majority leader Harry Reid. He came damaged from the manufacturer with an over inflated ego and a bad sense of self aggrandizement which convinced him he was bigger and more important that he actually was. He too is bent to the left (making himself dysfunctional) and although he loves to give the leaves on the right the shaft, no amount of banging can make him work even in the middle (except for the occasional pork barrel project, graft or large campaign contribution). But the results are very temporary and who really wants a hard left leaning shaft? It doesn’t look or make anyone feel good. Fortunately both Reid and Pelosi can be removed and replaced with properly working parts when their warranty runs out in 2010.

Since the inductor (or intake, Nancy Pelosi, who does her share of pork barrel, graft and special interest “endtaking” as well) is broken (probably just from overuse), the output or blower for the entire machine (White house Secretary Robert Gibbs), has a hard time spewing the hot air necessary to keep the Main Stream Media from falling asleep on the job due to lack of oxygen going to their already made up minds.

Further examination of the shaft exposes a part that seems to be of no purpose at all to the running of the machine except to occasionally screw up the operation, we’ll call that part Joe Biden. Then we have some belts which I believe to be the secretary of treasury Geithner since he has the ability to expand as needed. Then other large parts, known as the rest of the cabinet, all seem to have problems with either corruption of some type or like Geithner have avoided paying taxes to the same government agencies that they have been confirmed to lead.

Well, it seems that the only thing left to look at is the operation of the machine; the blowing or spreading. Well when I think of a blower I think of hot air, and as I mentioned, that would definitely be the Liberal media. Then what’s left? Nothing, except us leaves and debris scattered everywhere, insignificant as it would appear until we start getting in the way again and making the “Ones” lawn look bad.

But “The Messiah Machine” has a plan for eliminating this problem and of course, and it’s a “green solution.” He’ll take all of our “green” through regulations and taxation and transfer it to the real human garbage that will take our money in exchange for votes for the “Machine.”

We now know that we will all be terminated unless we who really care about liberty and justice get together and stand up to the “Machine” and stop it with the most powerful weapon on earth, THE VOTE! I believe that there are enough real Americans willing to stand up and “be counted” for the values of our forefathers, freedom, justice, capitalism, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Yes, we may be down for now but we aren’t out and WE’LL BE BACK!

T – DeMint to Force Vote Next Week on Bill to Stop Fairness Doctrine
President Obama says his administration opposes the Fairness Doctrine, which violates free speech; the DeMint-Thune Broadcaster Freedom Act take a stand against such censorship

Yesterday, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, announced that he will offer the Broadcaster Freedom Act (S.34) as an amendment to the D.C. Voting Rights bill next week. The Broadcaster Freedom Act, introduced by U.S. Senators DeMint and John Thune (R-South Dakota), prevents the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine, which would suppress free speech by requiring the government to monitor political views and decide what constitutes fair political discourse.

President Obama stated yesterday that he opposes the fairness doctrine, but Democrats in Congress have disagreed with the administration and announced their support for suppressing free speech on the radio, including: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) and U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-Illinois), Debbie Stabenow (D-Michigan), Charles Schumer (D-New York), Jeff Bingaman (D-New Mexico), Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Diane Feinstein (D-California).

“I’m glad President Obama finally confirmed his opposition to the Fairness Doctrine, which attacks the right of free speech on talk radio, but many Democrats in Congress are still pushing it. With the support of the new administration, now is the time for Congress to take a stand against this kind of censorship,” said Senator DeMint. “I intend to seek a vote on this amendment next week so every senator is on record: Do you support free speech or do you want to silence voices you disagree with?”

The Fairness Doctrine was implemented by the FCC in 1949 in an attempt to ensure balanced and fair coverage of controversial subject matter by broadcasters. In 1985, the FCC determined that the Fairness Doctrine was no longer necessary due to the emergence of a “multiplicity of voices in the marketplace.” The FCC was also of the view that the Fairness Doctrine may have violated the First Amendment. In a 1987 case, the courts declared that the doctrine was not mandated by Congress and the FCC did not have to continue to enforce it. Twice, Congress has passed legislation restoring the Fairness Doctrine, but Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush vetoed the bills.

The DeMint-Thune Senate bill, S. 34, has 29 cosponsors including Senators Saxby Chambliss (R-Georgia), Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), and Johnny Isakson(R-Georgia).

The Broadcaster Freedom Act has also been introduced in the House by U.S. Congressmen Mike Pence (R-Indiana), chairman of the House Republican Conference, and Greg Walden (R-Oregon) and the bill currently has 177 cosponsors.

Augusta Museum Honors Historic Voyage

November 11, 2008

WNRR Augusta (Press Release)

Museum to host 15th Anniversary of the reconstruction and launch of Petersburg Boat

Event to include recap and memories from crew members who took the 8 day voyage from Augusta to Savannah

Augusta, Georgia (11/7/08) – One hundred years after  working crafts navigated down the Savannah River, a crew of fourteen took an eight-day voyage from Augusta to Savannah on a reconstructed Petersburg Boat.  On Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 2:00 pm, a roundtable discussion will be held at the Augusta Museum of History to honor the Fifteenth Anniversary of the Christening of the Petersburg Boat, and will feature presentations and discussion from crew members, the boat builders and designers.

Project initiator and native Augustan, Mr. George Barrett, had a passion for the history of boats and a dream – to build a replica of the Petersburg Boats he heard of through childhood stories.  His dream became a reality thanks to support from the Augusta Canal Authority and donations from area citizens and companies.

With no model to work from, and only a faded postcard from the 1860s, an 1875 photo of a Petersburg vessel docked in the Augusta Canal, and the account of J.P. Carson, a surveyor with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who spent a year abroad the boats, Mr. Mark Newell, a historian at the University of South Carolina, used the same measurements and performance capabilities as the boats described by Carson to develop a historically accurate plan to reconstruct the vessel.  The boat could carry the same load – up to 10,000 pounds of cotton.  The vessel took three months to construct in summer of 1993 on the banks of the Augusta Canal, across from Sibley and King Mills.  Draped with flowers, she was christened “Fort Augusta” and launched with the power of a dozen men and four mules in front of hundreds of people on September 18, 1993.

Newell, said at the time of the landmark trip, “This is experimental archaeology on the Savannah River.  At the same time, its’ a celebration of the history of the river…it’s a way of studying how small craft were built and operated.”

The Southern pine boat is a reconstruction of one of the most successful designs of outland transportation ever on the Savannah River, which hauled tobacco and cotton between Augusta and Petersburg, a community located about 16 miles upstream, and Augusta to Savannah.

In 1998 “Fort Augusta”, on loan from the Augusta Canal Authority, found a home at the Augusta Museum of History and the artifact resides in the Museum’s permanent exhibit, Augusta’s Story, which chronicles 12,000 years of the region’s rich history, including the heydays when tobacco and cotton were king.  Augusta’s Story went on to win Exhibit of the Year from the Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries, the prestigious Certificate of Commendation from the American Association for State and Local History, and the Georgia Historical Society Local Achievement Award.

Upon the anniversary of the monumental trip, Barrett said, “None of us fifteen years ago would have expected that today Petersburg Boats would cruise up and down the Augusta Canal daily, carrying passengers on guided tours.  It shows how important history is in bridging the past to the future.”

Learn of the incredible three-month process of reconstructing the Petersburg Boat, take a trip down memory lane, and see “Fort Augusta” today.   The Fifteenth Anniversary of the Christening of the Petersburg Boat is free of charge to the public.

Export Wizard-1Augusta Museum of History, the only Museum in the CSRA accredited by the American Association of Museums, was established in 1937 for the purpose of preserving and sharing the material history of Augusta and the region.  From a 10,000 year-old projectile point to a 1914 locomotive, the collections chronicle a rich and fascinating past.  The museum is located at 560 Reynolds Street in downtown Augusta.  Please call (706) 722-8454 for more information or visit our website www.augustamuseum.org.

Corps Seek Your ‘River’ Advice

October 16, 2008

WNRR Augusta – (USACE)

SAVANNAH, GA. Can the Corps of Engineers reduce the outflows from the J. Strom Thurmond Dam an additional 500 cubic feet per second (cfs) without a significant impact on the downstream environment? Savannah District officials seek comments to that question in an expedited draft environmental assessment they released today. The public comment period runs through Oct. 27.
Officials from the Georgia and South Carolina Departments of Natural Resources and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control requested a reduction in downstream outflows from Thurmond Dam from Nov. 1, 2008, through Feb. 28, 2009. Since October 2007, the Corps of Engineers has released only 3,600 cfs of water through the Thurmond Dam, the current minimum flow required by the two states. Officials seek public input on the impacts a further reduction to 3,100 cfs during the cooler winter months will have on the Savannah River below Thurmond.
Through this proposed reduction, officials hope to conserve more water in the Corps’ three reservoirs on the upper Savannah River – Lakes Hartwell, Russell, and Thurmond – while still meeting the needs of the downstream users and environment. The extended severe drought gripping the Southeast U.S. for the past 30 months has greatly depleted the usable water in the three reservoirs. The predicted continuation of the drought prompted state officials to request a further reduction of outflows during the winter through an expedited assessment.
The public may view the draft environmental assessment through the Savannah District homepage at www.sas.usace.army.mil or may obtain a copy by contacting William Bailey at 912-652-5781

New Unemployment Numbers Show Increase

October 16, 2008

WNRR Augusta – (State Press Release)

September unemployment rate rises to 6.5 percent; Thurmond reassures
jobless Georgians

ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) reported today that
the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 6.5 percent
in September, the highest rate in 16 years. The jobless rate was up
two percentage points from 4.5 percent at this same time last year. The
September unemployment rate was up two-tenths of one percentage point
from 6.3 percent in August.

“Despite the troubling unemployment statistics, I want to reassure
jobless Georgians that the department of labor is committed to helping
them get back to work,” said State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond.
“It is critical that job seekers continue to look for work and take
full advantage of our employment services. These services include job
referrals, job search workshops, resume writing assistance, computer
access, and referrals to education and training opportunities.”

The last time Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate reached
this level was in November of 1992 when it was 6.6 percent. The state
rate remained above the national rate of 6.1 percent for the eighth
straight month. The number of jobs decreased 24,800 from August to
September, down in most major industries. At present, 317,490 unemployed
Georgians are looking for work.

Over the last year, the number of payroll jobs decreased 53,200 or 1.3
percent. This is the largest September-to-September decline in jobs
since 64,500 were lost from September of 2001 to September of 2002, the
period following the 911 terrorist attacks. The over-the-year job losses
came across-the-board in manufacturing, construction, trade, and
services.
